KeyFlow Pro, Kyno, and Edit Ready - Do you use all three? 10 Oct 2016 17:01 #80626
I am trying to get a sense of how you all using these tools in your workflow. I just got wind of Kyno, but it seems complimentary to KeyFlow Pro. We use EditReady to preprocess our [AVCHD] clips and for custom file names from post to archiving (something FCP X only does in it's own database rather the Finder too which we don't want), but it falls short of some features with the auto increment between multiple cards (causing me to then use the app Renamer.app) and playback; seems like I'd use Kyno to replace it.
In any case, I don't particularly want to have to use all three, but if you al are or a combination of them, I'd love to know how and what your experiences are. |

I've had a long chat with Robert from Kyno at IBC. I have also tried the software since then.
It has very powerful media management and search features, and an intuitive interface. Batch-renaming is a breeze. Rewrapping or converting non-edit friendly codecs is very fast, and you can send clips from the Kyno browser straight to FCP X. Robert will do an extensive demo of Kyno at the next FCPX Tour event on November 4th in Barcelona, and we will publish the video of the entire demo. - Ronny |

KeyFlow Pro, Kyno, and Edit Ready - Do you use all three? 01 Dec 2016 21:50 #83530
I haven't used EditReady, but I can tell you few things about the other two. KeyFlow Pro is like Data Management more a powerful Finder extension that Kyno is. You can manage any Data with Keyflow Pro and share it over a network as MAM there are few drawbacks vs a real MAM like EditShare. Kyno seems a mix between a library manager and Compressor. It looks some what interesting but some issues that need to be flxed. Not a real media mananger when it comes down Projects and a sharing with others. Also lacks on some codec compatibles which KeyFlow Pro does support. They both have a Trial version you can test. Let us know what you think? |

I will surely take a look at Kyno and KeyFlow Pro but just to make sure I get the point:
These two, contrary to Lumberjack, is only for "post" editing of tags/keywords etc. right? Or are they also useable for live tagging during recording of footage ? |

That's correct.
Lumberjack is a production application, allowing you to add keywords for interview footage during the shoot, and to import the footage pre-organized by the keywords that have been entered during the shoot. Kyno and KFP are post-production applications, allowing you to tag and media-manage any footage prior to importing but after the shoot. They are not used for live tagging during the shoot. - Ronny |

Agreed. But that's a commercial decision, which does not affect the usefulness of the application. Lumberjack is by far the best solution for on-set tagging today and, as opposed to some other subscription-based applications, you won't lose your keywords or transcripts should you decide to end the subscription after having finished your project.

That might be, but I rather own the Software where I can decide when I need to use it spontaneously.
Ronny what you say about LightIron model and Application? |

Totally agree, I prefer this as well. But I think that people who see the advantage of using Lumberjack probably won't have any issues with their commercial model for this application. As long as it makes them save time and money.
