What is inside the new 2020 refreshed 27 inch iMac? We know the RAM can be upgraded, but what about the other components?

What is the first thing you would do with a new 2020 refreshed 27 inch iMac? Taking it to pieces to work out what's changed didn't jump to the front of our mind either.

However, our friends at OWC decided to strip the new model down to see what's changed.

The first thing that struck us was the gap where the old spinning disk used to be. That's a lot of spare space.

Secondly, this is the first video that we have seen where the teardown reveals that the CPU is socketed. Now, we are not suggesting that any user can replace a CPU, but the path could be there for an upgrade.

An upgrade is out of the question for the SSD, that's integrated to the board, so make sure you specify enough when you order a new iMac as you won't be able to change this afterwards.

Maybe the 'putting it back togther' video is slightly longer?
