It has been two and a half months since Apple announced the new M1 SOC Mac mini, MacBook Air and 13” MacBook Pro. So after a good couple of months with a 13” M1 MacBook Pro, I thought I’d put together my findings to help those out there who are thinking of buying one.

I'm surprised how many folks I personally know, who refuse to update apps or OS versions for up to a year, but ran out and got an M1 Mac right away, and are now bummed out their plugins don't work due to the FxPlug 4 debacle.

Hey Peter does FCP take one bounce to open after you reboot your machine? My M1 MacBook Pro takes like 6 bounces 😕

I think it depends on how many plugins you have loaded. I don't think I rebooted the machine that much at all though

I only have motion templates, can you please do a test after reboot? Because if it still stays on one bounce I have a problem with my Mac 😭

If you're testing how fast FCP opens, be sure you're opening a totally empty Library. The size of the Library FCP is opening with will very much determine how long it takes to open. On my iMac Pro an empty Library opens almost immediately. A Library with a full 10 episode TV show season takes quite a bit to open.
