No direct YouTube export in Final Cut Pro? Serge shows you how to configure the best YouTube export settings in FCP and Compressor.
Why Apple removed the direct export to YouTube feature in Final Cut Pro we will probably never know. It was an extremely quick and easy way to get projects onto YouTube without having to export a self-contained movie first and then upload via a web browser.
The best thing about a direct export preset was the ability to wrap it into an export bundle. So with one click, you could export a ProRes 422 master, make an H264 copy and upload at the same time to YouTube. Not any more.
So this tutorial from Serge is a great way to find out how to maximise quality by tweaking the export presets in Final Cut Pro and Compressor for exporting a YouTube 'compatible' file.
You will then of course, have to upload the result to YouTube via a web browser :(
