The Final Cut Pro site that had 130,000 unique visits a month and over a million users a year has returned!
The fact that you are reading this means that you know the site is back online. Why? Well there's a bit of explaining to do.
FCP.co got contacted by Sam Bogoch at Axle.AI and he asked why the popular site had been closed. In the discussions, he offered to get the site back online by covering the hosting cost and effort needed to get it live. In his words it was a valuable resource about our favourite NLE that really should still be accessible.
Now, we are really pleased to say that a lot has happened to FCP since the site closed a couple of years ago. Ok, let's rephrase that slightly. A lot has happened to FCP over the last couple of months! Apple bundling FCP into the Creator Studio has certainly created an impact. We have also just had Apple 'acquiring' MotionVFX.
Although the articles on FCP won't currently reflect the ACS, there is still a goldmine of information that is useful to editors, motion graphic designers and creatives.
So the big question, what about the future? At the moment there are no plans to add a huge amount of extra content, that takes money and more importantly, time. But, we are keen to hear your thoughts on the site.
Is it something we could give to the community? Would somebody want to run it back up to speed again? Could some crowdfunding keep the lights on and pay for journalism? Anything is possible!
So, in a way, over to you, the reader. Let us know what you think, what you want or what you can offer. Comments may or may not have survived the restoration, so you can get in touch on This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it.. Also the site may be running slower than expected as it is not via a CDN at the moment. Not too sure about the viability of the Forum either and there might be a few other minor issues.
Lastly, we must say thanks again to Sam for providing the means for FCP.co to rise from the archive.
