macOS Sierra - What works and what doesn't 04 Oct 2016 08:28 #80495

This is the wrong forum. I'd suggest Apple Support Communities Sierra forum.

My main understanding from the first post is that one shouldn't upgrade mid project and/or always have a backup or, as an FCPX editor, you're going to run into issues and probably get angry and annoyed.

The topic is 'macOS Sierra - What works and what doesn't' on an FCPX sub-forum on a site called fcp.co. If it was 'macOS Sierra - What works and what doesn't' on a Garage Band forum and someone started talking specifically about Adobe issues, they'd be politely told to keep it on topic there too. Plenty of places to complain about Sierra in general (and incompatibility with Adobe in particular). The internet is a big place and we should all feel free to explore it :-)

With this being an FCPX forum I would have thought sticking to FCPX and its associated plugins would have been implied? You're posting on a sub section called FCPX on a forum entitled FInal Cut Pro. Sorry you're having problems. But it's easy to revert to El cap, restore from a backup.

... I just think they know about these obvious ones ...
it's important to report even the seemingly obvious ones, because the issue might be specific to your hardware, setup or a particular plugin you got ;)

Have two strange behaviours since updating. Does anyone have the same problems?
Here are two videos that demonstrate them:

1. strange mouse behaviour.

2. strange EQ bug.

macOS 10.12.1 released today. Seems all the Sierra bugs in FCPX 10.2.3 are still there though...

It is expected that FCPX update will be here today, because this is the last Tuesday before the FCPX Creative Summit this weekend in Cupertino. If not today, some say over the weekend it will be unveiled at the Summit. If not at the Summit, then many thing Apple will announced a release date at the Summit.

Truth is, no one knows. Beta testers are not told a release date. Programmers don't know until the last minute. No one knows when the release will be. We just take our best either educated or superstitious guess. Or guess based on a little both.

HOPING for a release today. But I'm not holding my breath.

January, no way, Apple would never do that, that would hurt the brand way too much, the brand is taking a hit already, this delay is not a good thing, but if the update is as big as we all hope then it is worth it.

I think it makes every sense to release the update before the creative summit, this way, Apple can talk more openly about the changes, doing it after the weekend would be a bad idea.

This way with people seeing the changes, maybe new ideas will generate about new upgrades, who knows... Only a few more hours until 10am local time in California...

The Sierra update come online around 9pm my time, around 11am local California time...

I see no factual evidence of "the brand taking a hit"...

In the end it is only my view, it may not be what you experience, I chat to staff in the local reseller of Apple product store, and they say people are not wanting to buy FCPX, as they "the customers" have heard that Apple has not updated and that the present version has many bugs".

This is just anecdotal, it is not fact, just what I have heard locally, and to my mind that is "brand taking a hit"..It may not be your view, and that is what is great, we all have our own views, you may or may not agree, again, good and proper!!

Well it is just gone 10:30 at Apple HQ...no update online yet!!

What bugs are you talking about? You clearly haven't worked with Premiere yet.
Talking about bugs and I don't mean any little display glitch, crashes Export render mistakes and etc...
