Update feature rundown, to be followed by a series of free short tutorials on each.

A quick look but liking what I see A LOT. In between projects so can do my own test job to see how it goes. Worth the wait.

And people thought it was going to be END of the year... balderdash!

And I guess we can put to bed the notion that FCPX won't be released in the shadow of another Apple product launch.

It almost looks like Apple was clearing the decks so that their employees can all take long holidays. Nothing left to release this year except the new iTunes (surprised that wasn't mentioned today) and LogicX(?).

I think the only disappointment I can even consider is that Multi Channel Audio Editing Tools isn't nearly as expansive a feature as we might have hoped. Little was added to Roles, no new organizational features in the timeline and no improvements to mixing.

But all things being equal I'm pretty happy. It will be interesting to see the course of the software over the next year. And I'm still intensely curious as to whether there will be anything around FCPX at NAB 2013 (which I'll be attending for the first time ever).

Are we headed for a 2-year anniversary 10.1 in Mar/April?

Well, I have to take Apple's defense here. "Multichannel Audio Editing Tools" is exactly what we got. They never said "Audio Mixing Tools", which is very different animal. Not sure how much more expansive the channel editing tools can be. Just used them in a Multiclip, and I find it amazing and a super welcome. I mean, come on, you have access to every audio channel in the Multiclip, not just that one clip. I mean, right?

Yes, there are other things we could want. But again, when Apple (or anyone else for that matter) can program 500 new features in a single 3-6 months, then we will see them all in one single update. Until that unrealistic day, I'm THRILLED with what we got. And it's really a lot, too.

Well I'm happy because my prediction for the end of October was bang on. ;)

I still believe Logic Pro X will give us the Multitrack editing tools that people are after.
It makes perfect sense to do it this way as for many people the current audio tools are enough.

Have things gotten better for plugin developers? There's still not much from Red Giant and Boris

Red Giant made a new release today, and mistakenly posted the demo with 10.0.6 before it was on the App Store. And yes, there are some SDK and XML enhancements to improve things a lot.

This is too true, and I'm of the belief that if there's going to be any serious audio mixing improvements within FCPX, that it's going to be part of a much more audio focused update. There was a lot of improvements across a lot of different areas here.

Apple was pretty specific and people (myself included, though I was cautious) let their enthusiasm get the better of them.

JFYI Probably going to lock this thread soon. Not suggesting a 10.0.7 one, but it will be better if you start new topics.
