Motion has had 3D capabilities for a while, but they haven't been updated since 2009 for the basics and 2015 with 3D text. Motion VFX's updated plugin m02 adds much more 3D functionality and of course creativity to the app. We spoke to MotionVFX who kindly gave us a quick tour of the app and its 3D capabilities.

The barriers in the way to making your own films have never been so low, however the inertia to start often stops a lot of budding filmmakers. This summer, a program in Chicago got 12 kids from diverse backgrounds to team up and make their own film. They used iPhones, Final Cut Pro X and of course some help & knowledge from Sam Mestman. 

When given the task of cutting a 34 angle multicam music show in Premiere Pro, Shahin Shokoui accepted the job but decided to move the project over to Final Cut Pro X. After a successful edit, he then converted the final cuts back.

This can now be accomplished on a table top and of course Final Cut Pro's speed helps make it the obvious choice of NLE to get inserts edited for playout. Lesspain Software has updated their ingest and media managing tool Kyno to 1.5 and it includes new features for FCPX users. There's also a new premium version available for more complex workflows.

Apple gave us a 7th birthday present with a minor Final Cut Pro X update. 10.4.3 is mainly a bug fix including a correction for the 25 FPS MXF problem.

Where were you seven years ago today? We were huddled over a laptop scratching our heads looking at Final Cut Pro 10.0. Things have changed a lot since then and now we have a stable, mature NLE that competitors are having to copy.

Adobe has today announced a new cross platform NLE called Project Rush. Whist we welcome all new tools, it does look very similar to an old friend!
