Sony launch their PDZK-LT2 XDCAM import plugin for FCPX and upgrade XDCAM Browser

Sony have two new pieces of software running with FCPX on their stand here at NAB 2012. An import plugin for XDCAM into Final Cut Pro X and an FCPX friendly update to XDCAM Browser. The plugin is available for download now, sort of.

Life would be so much simpler for us editors if everybody used the same codec, preferably ProRes. VirtualMXF from Hamburg Pro Media brings a little more friendliness to handling MXF files in non linear editors.

They are going to be 'the' gadget of NAB 2011, the portable LCD screened ProRes recorder for your video camera or DSLR. In true London bus style (you wait and then three come at once), Fast Forward Video have announced the sidekick HD.

So we are going to leave the credit cards at home this NAB otherwise we might find ourselves with one of these on the plane back. There are other LCD recorders arriving everyday, but this one can record two streams for 3D work. It's missing one thing though...

How much faster is Final Cut Pro on the new 2.2GHz i7 MacBook Pros?

We wish we hadn't seen this video. It gives us another reason to want to rush out and buy a new 2.2 GHz Intel Core i7 MacBook Pro, if Thunderbolt wasn't enough!  We will post the rendering speed results after the break, but I urge you to watch one of the most elegant bench tests going.
