Ben Franklin replied to the topic Re: Short horror, shot on Red Epic, edited in FCPX in the forums. In answer to your question Scrubelicious, I edited on a current model iMac (i5) with 16GB RAM. FCPX performed wonderfully, from start to finish. I was incredibly impressed with it, considering it was the first time I'd used it.
Oh and the video is on Vimeo, but thanks for mentioning it. You can see our Vimeo content here: https://vimeo.com/user8441547
Thanks.

Ben Franklin created a new topic Short horror, shot on Red Epic, edited in FCPX in the forums.Hi guys,
So I've just finished my first film edited in FCPX. A short horror, entitled "Mother Died".
We shot on Red Epic, I converted to 2k ProRes in Red Cine-X and then brought the files into FCPX to begin editing away at it. I have to say on the most part, it was a pleasure, up to and including the upload to YouTube without having to even leave the NLE. Seamless.
Anyway, check it out, and if you like what you there's more at www.bloodycuts.co.uk
Thanks,
Ben
P.S. Watch in 720p or 1080p if possible.

Ben Franklin replied to the topic Re: Going from FCPX to DaVinci - what to do? in the forums. Thanks for the help. I actually haven't used Color before, though I do have a fair idea on how to use it. For me, it's better to spend my time on DaVinci, rather than discontinued product. If Color was still being supported, I would have definitely have made the effort to use it.
Yanobox Moods looks great, but would I be just as well to colour correct with FCPX's own controls?

Ben Franklin created a new topic Going from FCPX to DaVinci - what to do? in the forums.Hi guys, I have another question....
So I'm editing a short film in FCPX for the first time, and once I've locked the edit I want to go out to DaVinci Resolve Lite for finishing. However, I'm editing at 2k (it was shot on Red Epic at 5k) and the Lite version of DaVinci doesn't support anything over 1920x1080.
With that in mind, what would you do, if in my situation? (buying the full version of DaVinci isn't an option, by the way
)
Thanks for the help.

Ben Franklin replied to the topic Re: Organising many tracks of music/sfx? in the forums. Thanks for all the advice guys. I'm going to stick with it, take my time to learn the best processes and work it all out. I guess its just adapting to the new way things are done. I think I was finding it daunting dealing with up to 40 different levels of audio, but I'll work through it I'm sure.
Thanks again.

Ben Franklin replied to the topic Re: Organising many tracks of music/sfx? in the forums. Thanks Ben, that sounds fantastic. Would love to know when that's out as I'd been keen to purchase it.
Maybe haphazard is the wrong word, I think it just feels that way being so new to it. There's certainly a logic to it, its just getting my head around it!

Ben Franklin created a new topic Organising many tracks of music/sfx? in the forums.Hi guys,
Long time editor from an FCP/Premiere background, now dabbling in FCPX for the first time. In fact, I'm testing the water by editing a horror short that we filmed a couple of weeks ago, that will likely end up having many levels of dialogue, music and sfx.
With a track based layout it was incredibly easy to organise your audio mix by type, but in FCPX the clips tend to move around a lot more haphazardly due to the magnetic timeline.
What's the easiest way for me to work around this? I had thought about compound clips, but is it a simple case of just spending a good amount of time moving things around so they're in some kind of order?
Although I know OMF exporting isn't yet supported, I'm hoping to do it with a soon to be launched plugin (can't remember the name off the top of my head), but assuming this doesn't come about, is the next best thing for me to export XML into FCP7 (and reorganise there) or export as roles?
Any help appreciated, thanks.
